What this examination route is for

French assessment for a Québec-related objective.

Choose the exact level and version

TEF pour l’accès au Québec; confirm required components.

Check the current component selection and practise expressing and supporting a position clearly.

TEFAQ and TEF Canada are different named routes. The receiving authority decides which evidence and results it accepts.

TEFAQ: 6 practical preparation steps

Match these steps to the sections in your chosen test product. Practice in another skill is supporting study, not an additional official examination section.

  1. Confirm the route and a useful starting point

Write down the exact examination name, version and target before selecting material. Compare the official requirements with the work you can already do. Identify whether a difficulty comes from language knowledge, understanding the task, organising an answer or working under the required conditions. Keep one example of your starting performance. Choose a manageable priority for the next session and agree how you will recognise an improvement. A general placement result can support this discussion, but it does not replace a requirement for a named examination.

  2. Read for meaning and justify the answer

Start with the task and the situation: who is communicating, to whom and for what purpose? Read for the main message, then locate the evidence needed for the answer. Check restrictions, corrections, contrasts and changes of plan. Record why an alternative interpretation does not fit the text. Use a new text after reviewing an error so that you practise the same skill without simply recalling an answer. The short example on this page provides a starting activity; it is not a complete timed reading module.

  3. Listen with a purpose and review the evidence

Choose listening material that matches the selected examination and level. Follow the conditions supplied with that lawful sample before using a transcript or a replay for review. Notice whether a missed answer came from an unfamiliar expression, a sound boundary, a correction, a speaker’s purpose or a loss of attention. Keep a brief note and try a fresh recording that targets the same difficulty. The written example on this page is not an audio test. A tutor reading a script can support guided practice, but it does not establish a calibrated listening result.

  4. Write for a reader and a clear outcome

Identify the reader, purpose, required points and relevant format before drafting. Plan the order of ideas so that the reader can follow your response. Check that every requested point is addressed and that examples support the message. Review meaning and organisation before correcting individual language forms. Keep the first version and a revision, with a short explanation of the changes. Feedback is more useful when it identifies a pattern to work on next, rather than simply replacing your text with a model. Follow the actual examination instructions for timing, length and permitted resources.

  5. Speak, respond and develop an answer

Practise answering the actual prompt with a clear main point and an appropriate reason or example. In an interaction, listen to the other person and respond to what was said. Rehearse clarification and repair when a word or an instruction is unclear. Use a recording of your own practice, with permission from any partner, to review whether the message is understandable and relevant. Do not memorise a speech for every possible situation. Direct repetition tasks require a different approach: preserve the supplied message rather than replacing it with an unrelated prepared answer.

  6. Review progress and plan the next practice

Keep a short practice record with the task, conditions, result and one useful observation. Distinguish a language error from a task misunderstanding or a pacing problem. Select one or two priorities for the next session, then test the same skill with unfamiliar material. Bring unclear requirements and repeated difficulties to your tutor. Compare work against the criteria for the exact examination, while keeping self-review separate from an official result. Course completion records participation in the learning pathway; it does not by itself award an official certificate, predict a score or guarantee admission.

TEFAQ: Try an original short example

Read the message and identify its main purpose. Separate information stated in the text from an assumption. Explain which words support your answer. The example is original teaching material, not an official examination question or a predicted examination score.

Both online and in-person access remain available; the sentence does not announce closure of the reception desk.

Check your preparation evidence

Review progress through observable work rather than a feeling of familiarity. A repeated task can become easier because you remember it. Use a different task with the same skill to check whether the improvement transfers.

  • I know the exact examination, level and version I need.
  • I can explain the evidence for an answer, not only recognise it.
  • I have tried an unfamiliar task after reviewing a difficulty.
  • I know the current course offer and the separate registration conditions.

Continue with guided preparation

Use the public guide to understand your needs. Before enrolling in a taught course, confirm the intended level, teaching language, format, feedback, current fee and access period with LSA GLOBAL. Review the curriculum and the terms of the actual course you choose.

Confirm the teaching language and content before payment. A public guide does not grant access to protected lessons or to a separate practice platform.

Some protected course material may use its original instructional language. Public guide explanations follow the selected page language; example sentences retain the language being studied.

Make a clear booking decision

Begin with the organisation that will receive your result. Ask which examination, variant, level or score it accepts and when the result must be available. Keep the requirement with your study notes. A language label alone does not establish that a particular qualification will be accepted for a university, employer or administrative procedure.

Then confirm the current official examination arrangements and the separate teaching offer. Check dates, identification requirements, location or delivery format, fees, cancellation conditions and any required accommodation directly with the responsible organisation. Preparation tuition covers the agreed teaching service; official registration and third-party practice access are separate purchases unless expressly included in your actual offer.

Use the right resource for the right purpose

The official examination website is the reference for the current format and registration conditions. LSA GLOBAL provides its own preparation guidance and reviewed teaching offers. LingoLab provides a separate practice pathway: its published catalogue and your account permissions determine the activities you can access. A guide link is not a promise that a complete test is currently published.

Useful questions before you begin

How do I choose the examination and level?

Use the requirement from the organisation receiving your result, then compare it with the current official examination information. Discuss your starting point and available study time with admissions before selecting a preparation course.

What does the public guide include?

It includes route information, study guidance, an original short example, an explanation and links to relevant resources. Protected teaching workshops and individual feedback follow the conditions of the course you actually enrol in.

Does preparation tuition include official registration?

Preparation tuition covers the agreed teaching service. Official examination registration, certification and any external practice subscription have separate conditions and fees unless your written offer expressly includes them.

Can I use the same plan for every examination?

General study habits can transfer, but task types, versions, levels and assessment criteria differ. Match the material and review criteria to the exact examination. Keep a separate note of any variant required by your receiving organisation.

What should I confirm before paying?

Confirm the course level, teaching language, availability, delivery, feedback, materials, access period, current fee and cancellation conditions. Use the actual course and payment information rather than assuming that every guide describes the same offer.

How should I interpret a practice result?

Use practice as evidence of work under the stated conditions. A familiar task or an uncalibrated exercise cannot establish an official predicted result. Discuss progress through a range of unfamiliar tasks and appropriate feedback.
